Tips for Sharing Your Digital Wedding Invitation on WhatsApp

Why WhatsApp?

In Turkey, WhatsApp is the most widely used channel for sharing wedding invitations. Nearly all of your guests have WhatsApp, and its open rate is far higher than SMS or email. Sending your digital invitation link via WhatsApp gives guests a fast, personal experience.

What Is a Link Preview (OG Preview)?

When you paste a link into a WhatsApp message, a small preview box appears below it — showing the invitation's title, description and cover photo. This preview helps guests understand what they'll see before they even click, and increases the click-through rate.

Rose Davet automatically generates this preview (Open Graph) for every invitation. The couple's names, date and venue appear automatically in the preview.

Should You Send Individually or as a Group?

Individual Sharing

Sending a separate message to each guest feels more personal. This is a good choice especially for close family and important guests. It can be paired with a message like "We'd especially love to have you there."

WhatsApp Group

For large guest lists, a group is more practical. But be careful: group members can see each other's phone numbers. Avoid adding guests who don't know each other or who value their privacy to the same group.

WhatsApp Broadcast List

This is the ideal solution. A broadcast list sends a message that appears individual to multiple people at once. Recipients can't see who else is on the list.

How to create one: WhatsApp → New Broadcast → Select contacts → Write your message and add the link.

How to Write an Effective WhatsApp Message

Instead of sending a bare link, add a short, warm message:

"Hi [Name],

We'd be so happy to have you with us at our wedding. You can view our invitation at the link below:

We'd love it if you could let us know your attendance through the invitation. 🌹"

Short, clear and heartfelt. If the invitation link comes at the end of the message rather than in the middle, the preview shows up better.

How Many Days in Advance Should You Send It?

Things to Watch Out For

Bulk message spam: Sending too many messages to too many groups in a short time can get your WhatsApp account temporarily restricted. Spread it out over the day.

Muted groups: Notifications get turned off in large groups. Give your invitation group a catchy name like "Ayşe & Mehmet's Wedding Invitation 🌹."

Wrong list: Double-check your recipient list before sending. Sending the invitation to the wrong people can be embarrassing.

The WhatsApp Button on Rose Davet Invitations

A digital invitation created with Rose Davet includes a WhatsApp contact button by default. Guests can reach you directly via WhatsApp from the invitation page. You can also add your coordinator's phone number.

Create your digital invitation, copy the link, and share it on WhatsApp — it's that simple.
